Cinema Eye Honors – Voting ends today!

Lyda Kuth, LEF Executive Director, will be among the dedicated and creative documentary professionals at the the Cinema Eye Honors this year. I would love to be there to join her and give three cheers to LEF grantees Ilisa Barbash and Lucien Castaing-Taylor for their film SWEETGRASS, nominated in the Best Cinematography category. However, my own 4 month-old film lover is keeping me close to home.

For the uninitiated, the Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction Filmmaking celebrate “exemplary craft and innovation in nonfiction
film.”  Its mission is “to advocate for, recognize and
promote the highest commitment to rigor and artistry in the nonfiction
field.”

You, too, can participate by voting in the Audience Choice Category. Check out the nominees here, and learn more about Cinema Eye on their website.

For those interested in attending, I hear tickets are still available. Mark your calendars, because it’s next week in NYC: Tuesday, January 18, 2011/8 PM Ceremony,Museum of the Moving Image, 35th Avenue at 37th Street, Astoria, New York  11106.

When you review all the nominations, all you will be able to think is – what an amazing year for documentary!
